New World Record Gobbler
SPECIAL REPORT—Hunting spring gobblers in his home state of North Carolina on April 19, 2008, Joseph Fuller pulled the trigger on one special turkey: the new world record.
It’s been confirmed. The National Wild Turkey Federation has recognized the Eastern gobbler as accumulating a total score of 195.5000 points. That’s no typo, Strut Zoners!
Edgecombe, NC was the location.
Eight beards drooped of the gobbler’s chest, the longest measuring 11.1250 inches.
The gobbler weighed a hefty 23.5000 pounds.
Both spurs taped a matching 1.2500 inches.
What calls did Fuller use? Both a diaphragm and a slate . . .—Steve Hickoff

Okay, let's break that record Eastern down . . .
Many of us have killed a gobbler with 1.25-inch spurs.
Many of us have tagged a 23-pounder too. Even several . . .
But none of us have done both, and added 8 beards to the stats.
The beards won this round guys . . .

Called one in for a buddy this year that had 1 1/8 spurs and weighed almost 26 pound's, but he only had 1 beard, 10 3/4. 8 beard's thats crazy. My brother called one in for a budy that has 5 beard's. Steve, what's your email address, ill send you some pic's if you like.

Not trying to downplay the mans bird because it truely is a great bird but give me spur length anyday over weights and beard length. Neither one of those signify a true trophy bird like spur length does. I have taken 2-year olds with 12" beards and you can get heavy weights if they are eating corn and protein pellets everyday You can only get exceptional spur length one way and thats through age.

Mr Fuller has shot a very impressive gobbler. I have seen alot of birds, bagged 34 myself, but that is a once in a lifetime bird he harvested there. Kudos to Joseph.
